Last Saturday (10/4/08) after the Colorado Juniors Volleyball League--we headed east of Monument to the "Pumpkin Patch". This included Layne, 6 of her teammates from her club season last year, their parents and siblings. Now, being from Iowa and hearing that there is a pumpkin patch--I assumed that there would actually be a patch. That the pumpkins there would have been grown there. Well, I was wrong. No matter what it was, the girls had a really great time and truly just love being together. They are fun and goofy and I love to see Layne smile when she is with all of them.
So, below are some photos from the wonderful outing. I think the straw slide was their favorite. They would go down alone and then they would double-up and change partners and scream!!

With entry into the patch, they each got to choose a pumpkin. It was a very long process and they had to get in many of the big boxes that the pumpkins had been shipped in. How else to you get pumpkins to a patch?

They even had a wonderful petting zoo with 4 goats!!

I have always wanted to see Layne as a piece of candy corn.

They were all pretty pooped after the 1 hay bale high maze, the petting zoo, hay slide and then picking the perfect pumpkin--but still smiling!!

The next two pictures are from earlier that same day--before heading to Monument. We were meeting some others for the car pool to the league. Anyway, we came around a corner and these two deer casually walked across the street in front of us. They were just taking a little walk down the sidewalk.

The biggest difference between the deer here and deer in Iowa is that here they just hang out. You will see them all the time just sitting in some one's yard or chewing on their bushes--right in the middle of town. They don't seem quite as scared and pretty happy to just be checking things out.

Thanks for reading and I really love when you leave comments!! (HINT! HINT!)

Nice photos and summary of the photoblog.
Your right colorados version of a pumpkin patch looked a little different than iowas'. I just chaperoned Ty's class to Dan D Farms maze and patch much different. I'm glad you guys are loving it out there! We still miss you here tho. We'll definitely have to make trip out there to see you guys it looks beautiful! Greg H.
I guess I'm on your side...
When I hear 'pumpkin patch' I think of like John Pierce's pumpkin patch.... Always will. It's not really a patch if they don't grow them there! More of like a pumpkin.... store?
haha
love, Dani
Except for the deer at Newton Country Club where they'll eat out of your hand. Maybe that's where they all go so they don't get shot! Love the pictures and the thoughts!
Love,
Jess
