I am really not sure what face Layne is making here and no matter what she might say, she enjoyed her time out in nature.
If you look closely, you can see the city behind us. I just wish the photo could give you a better idea of the beauty. Is it me or is Layne getting pretty close to my height?
Layne and I were convinced that we heard a bear. So, for the better part of the hike she chose to sing and make very loud sounds--her attempt at keeping them away. I think in this photo Heath is telling her to shut up and still smile for the camera. Layne just thinks it is funny to be annoying!
We thought this was a very cool rock formation. Heath was sure he could climb it--I asked him to wait till next time.......
He did find this opening on the other side.
In the end, it was a nice little break from the silly things we find to do all day. I need to remember to take the time to do this more often.
After writing and re looking at all these photos, I have to take a minute to give some of my real thoughts. As I am looking at this last photo and how big Layne has gotten, I do get somewhat emotional--OK a lot. The time has gone so fast and only two more years before high school. I think back on our lives together and what we have done--I really get made at myself for all the stupid things I spend time and money on. I only wish we had made vacations and weekend get-aways more of a priority versus clothes and things. I know that when Layne has grown and thinks back--she won't remember how many Barbies I bought her or how many shoes she had or even what she got for her 5th birthday. It will be the memories of what we did as a family. I am committing myself to reevaluate my priorities before it is too late. The Stuff Doesn't Matter--and that is the quote of the day!!
Have a good one.
Tori :)

I love all the pictures you guys put up from you hikes, and basically everything you do outside. It's so beautiful there with all the mountains and everything. We went to Honolulu in March and my mom made fun of me for how amazed I was with the ocean and all the palm trees. I'd never seen them before! haha.
love, Dani
Your quote of the day rocks! That's exactly how I feel. While there are a few things I remember having as a kid...I remember the experiences of life a whole lot more and hope I can give that gift to my girls as they grow up.
Tori,
All these pictures of Colorado just make me miss it even more. I hope we can move there eventually.
I miss you guys. God has richly blessed your family. Keep posting the picks. I like seeing your adventures.
John
